What are Multiples?

A multiple of a number is the product of that number and any positive integer. The first 5 multiples of 7 are 7, 14, 21, 28, and 35 (calculated as 7×1, 7×2, 7×3, 7×4, 7×5). Every number has infinitely many multiples. The multiples calculator above generates up to 100 multiples of any number.

Multiples and factors are inverse concepts. If 3 is a factor of 12, then 12 is a multiple of 3. Multiples are central to finding Least Common Multiples (LCM), adding fractions with different denominators, and solving scheduling problems. Skip counting — counting by 2s, 5s, or 10s — is essentially listing multiples.
